Downers Grove Entertainment

When my parents first told me we were moving to Downers Grove, I was really bummed out. We’d been living in Chicago since I was little and I never imagined what it would be like to move away from the big city. I didn’t think that a small town like Downers Grove could match our exciting and fast paced city lifestyles.

My parents purchased some Downers Grove real estate, and two weeks later, we were moved in. It was in the beginning of summer, and I was sad because I thought there would be nothing to do until school started. One day my neighbor invited me to the Pierce Downers Heritage festival, which was really fun. It turns out they hold it every year. That’s when I realized Downers Grove could be fun, so I stared to explore. There are plenty of restaurants, shops and theatres. On Friday nights in the summer, people park their antique and specialty cars park downtown to show them off. Once school stared, I began attending the school football games, which are very competitive and draw in large crowds. Also, in January they hold an ice sculpture festival. An annual cycling event, the National Criterium Championships, is hosted in August, and people come from all over the world to participate.

One of the things that I really enjoy about Downers Grove is that my parents give me a lot more freedom. Downers Grove is way safer than Chicago. The crime rate is very low, so my parents feel comfortable with me being out later and they worry less.

Sometimes I miss Chicago, but I really like our new home. Plus, I know that if I ever miss the city a lot it is only a short train ride away.

I am really happy that my parents decided to buy a home in Downers Grove.
